2026 High School Artist Showcase
The City of Fontana is pleased to announce the upcoming annual High School Artist Showcase, an event dedicated to celebrating the artistic talents of local high school students. This year's exhibition will feature over 60 exceptional artworks by students from various Fontana high schools, encompassing a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, and mixed media.
The showcase will take place at the Art Depot Gallery, located at 16822 Spring Street, from Saturday, January 24, 2026, to Sunday, March 8, 2026. The gallery will be accessible to the public Wednesday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission to the exhibition is free, allowing all art enthusiasts and community members to participate in this impressive display.
A notable highlight of the event will be the Artist Reception and Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. An esteemed panel of professional artists from Southern California will evaluate the artworks and award multiple prizes to outstanding participants. This engaging evening will serve as an opportunity for the community to gather and celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our young artists.

Artist Opportunities
Fontana Arts offers four satellite locations (Art Depot Gallery, Steelworkers' Auditorium, Fontana Community Senior Center Gallery and City Hall Council Chambers) for an artist to exhibit their artwork with two different programs to work through.
Featured Artist Showcase:
The Featured Artist Showcase program offers artists the opportunity to showcase their artwork in the Art Depot Gallery and the City Council Chamber Foyer for around eight to ten weeks.
Satellite Exhibition:
The Satellite Exhibition is an opportunity for artists to exhibit their work at three of four satellite locations (Art Depot Gallery, Steelworkers' Auditorium, and Fontana Community Senior Center). Exhibit location will be based on availability and subject matter. Depending on the venue, the exhibitor will have the assigned venue for six to eight weeks.

Fontana Arts seeks professional artist to lead workshops and/or demos at one of our Fontana Arts locations (Art Depot Gallery and Steelworks' Auditorium) or art events.
If you practice as a professional artist in visual (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography) or performing arts (music, dance, theater) and you are you are interested in leading a workshop and/or demo, please email arts@fontana.org or call (909) 349-6975.
Fontana Arts currently plans three events that happen throughout the City of Fontana all highlighting the arts.
- Fontana Arts Festival is our biggest art event of the year. Typically bringing in 3000 – 5000 people, the Fontana Arts Festival celebrates all facets of arts and culture with an emphasis on creating entertaining and interactive opportunities connecting professional and emerging artists to the community.
- Jazz Fest: A Black History Month Celebration is an opportunity for local black artists, entrepreneurs, and musical acts to share their talent and skills with the community. Held in February, this event draws about 1,000 – 2,500 residents each year.
- La Gran Fiesta: Hispanic Heritage Celebration is a captivating programming that features artists and community booths, a main stage, interactive art activities, cultural games, and delicious food & beverage options. The hands-on art activities highlight artists from a variety of Hispanic countries.
- Dia De Los Muertos is our cultural remembrance of those who have passed and the connection to their friends and loved ones they have left behind. Held on November 1st of each year, this event showcases food vendors, artists, a community ofrenda, art activities, and main stage entertainment to celebrate this significant holiday.

Fontana Arts seeks candidates with solid instructional skills to enhance our Community Services Contract Class offerings in the Arts. Contract Class Instructors have unique skills or expertise and experience sharing their knowledge with members of the public in a class or workshop setting.

Artists of all levels are invited to a vibrant, inclusive space where creativity thrives! Each month, we explore a new theme, fostering engaging conversations that inspire your artistic voice. Collaborate with fellow creators and craft unique art pieces while celebrating creativity and connection!

Join us for our monthly drop-in DIY craft workshop between 12:30 and 3:30 PM and let your creativity soar. Whether you're into home décor, jewelry making, or recycled art, we've got you covered. Come alone or bring the family - we're here to guide you as you create your unique craft to take home.

Imagination Studio
Unleash your creativity with interactive art projects inspired by different artists and art movements. With Imagination Studio, you will discover various techniques and experiment with a range of materials, such as paint, drawing pencils, and clay. Each project is tailored to your specific area of interest.

Special Needs Art Program (S.N.A.P)
The Special Needs Art Program (S.N.A.P.) is designed to inspire creativity and passion for special needs community members. Join Fontana Arts Staff for engaging art projects tailored to accommodate individuals with unique abilities, providing a supportive space to explore and express creativity through various art forms.

Contract Classes
In these classes, students will be taught to see 3-dimensional forms and how they apply to drawing various artwork, including human figures, heads, hands & feet, and animals.
Drawing 101 (6-9 years old)
Location: Art Depot Gallery | 6:30pm - 7:30pm│Thursdays│6 weeks | $45*
Drawing 101 (10-17 years old)

*Additional supplies: Drawing pencils, a 9x12 sketchbook, and a kneaded eraser.

In this beginners' friendly class, students will learn the basics of painting including essential techniques, color theory, composition, and more. No prior experience necessary.

About the Art Depot Gallery
The Art Depot Gallery was originally built as a freight train depot in 1915 and now resides alongside the newly landscaped Pacific Electric Trail in the Helen Putman Historical Plaza.
The Art Depot Gallery is currently the headquarters for Fontana Arts, the City of Fontana's Cultural Arts program. The Art Depot Gallery is an ideal venue for artist's showcases, meetings, receptions and much more!
