The City observes the 11 Holidays listed below. In addition employees receive (3) Floating Holidays.
City Hall and most City departments are closed from Christmas Eve through New Years Day.
Personal Leave Accrual Benefits
Employees accrue leave time each pay period according to their MOU's/Contracts. This leave time includes personal, sick, and vacation.
Leave Cash Out
Under the City's leave plans, employees can cash out hours in their leave bank to be contributed to a deferred compensation plan or taken as an extra pay check. Please refer to your MOU for the maximum amount of hours that can be cashed out during this period.
Employees are eligible to receive longevity pay after they have completed a minimum of ten (10) years of service based on the employee's anniversary date (date of initial hire into a regular full-time position). Employees in the Police Officers Association (POA) bargaining unit are eligible for longevity pay after they have completed a minimum of five (5) years of service. Such longevity pay is based on years of service and the amount is determined by each employee's bargaining unit. Please refer to your MOU for exact amounts.
Educational Achievement Pay
The City will provide a one-time graduation stipend to non-probationary employees who obtain a degree during the course of their employment with the City of Fontana. Degrees must be conferred to the unit member by August 1st of the same year. Appropriate documentation must be submitted to the Human Resources Department in August of each year for those eligible members.

The City of Fontana offers its employees an Employee Assistance Program through The Counseling Team International. Their services provide counseling as well as workshops on personal development. All City of Fontana employees and their household members are able to attend counseling sessions for a variety of needs from marriage to depression to stress at no cost.
